Joseph Habersham (July 28, 1751 – November 17, 1815) was an American businessman, Georgia politician, soldier in the Continental Army, and Postmaster General of the United States. Born in Savannah, Georgia, he attended preparatory schools and Princeton College and became successful merchant and planter. Mary Lucile Chapman was born in Louisa, Kentucky in 1901. She received her education at the University of Kentucky where she earned her A.B, M.A., and PhD degrees. During her long career in education she served as a curriculum consult for the Ashland, Kentucky public schools and worked as a history professor at the following schools: Marshall College, East Tennessee State College, Piedmont College, and Jacksonville State University.
